Adaptive Skills Coach

Job Description

​

The Adaptive Skills Coach is the cornerstone of our enrichment program, providing essential guidance and support to our young adult participants with special needs. This role needs a compassionate, organized, and proactive individual who can confidently lead activities while cultivating a structured, engaging, and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Activity Implementation: Lead planned activities with care and consistency, following each participant's Individualized Enrichment Program (IEP) as applicable. The adaptive skills coach will tailor activities to meet each learner's unique needs and interests. Activities take place indoors, outdoors, and in community settings.

  • Communication & Documentation: Maintain accurate daily records of activities and observations. Make recommendations to the Program Director. Communicate clearly and respectfully with participants and their families as needed.

  • Daily Schedule Management: Create and uphold a balanced routine that combines learning, enrichment, and enjoyment.

  • Personalized Support: Offer assistance with personal care, meal preparation, and other tasks necessary to ensure each participant's comfort and well-being.

  • Safety & Well-being: Foster a nurturing, secure, and respectful environment tailored to each learner’s preferences and needs.

  • Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Anticipate and respond effectively to challenges to ensure a smooth and positive experience for all.

 

Job Requirements:​

  • Prior experience working with individuals with special needs is preferred but not required.

  • CPR certification.

  • Successful completion of a background check, drug screening, and medical clearance as required.

Adaptive Skills Assistant

The Adaptive Skills Assistant plays a vital role in our enrichment program, supporting the Adaptive Skills Coach in providing high-quality care for our young adult participants with special needs. This position is ideal for a compassionate, attentive, and detail-oriented individual.

​

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily Support & Activity Implementation: Assist in carrying out the daily schedule, supporting activities aligned with each learner’s Individualized Enrichment Program (IEP) goals.

  • Personalized Care & Independence Building: Provide respectful support with personal care, meal preparation, and maintaining a clean, organized environment—while promoting self-sufficiency and confidence in each participant.

  • Safety & Well-being: Follow all safety protocols, proactively anticipate learners’ needs, and help maintain a secure, nurturing atmosphere.

  • Communication & Documentation: Assist in documenting observations and share relevant details with the Adaptive Skills Coach and Program Director.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with the Adaptive Skills Coach, actively participate in team meetings and training, and contribute ideas for continuous program improvement.
